Linked couples and family visits

A couples or family session where both people are your own registered patients can exist as one linked visit: a single appointment that lives in both charts at once. It is the one feature in Nafsi whose mechanics are not obvious from looking at it, so this page spells out exactly what crosses between the two charts and what does not.

What a linked visit is

One appointment, one entry on the calendar carrying both names, and one row in each patient's chart. In the session header a switcher moves you between the two charts in place — the page does not reload, and the tab you were on stays open as you switch.

Linking is only possible between patients you have registered. Someone who attends a session but is not your patient is recorded as an attendee instead: name, relationship, and whether they were present throughout, joined for part of the session, or were seen without the patient. An attendee has no chart and no clinical fields. If they need treatment of their own, register them as a patient.

What applies to every linked chart

These are facts about the appointment, so changing them anywhere changes them everywhere:

• the date and time
• the location — in person or remote
• the format — individual, couples, family or group
• the purpose — assessment, therapeutic, counseling, medication follow-up, crisis, or a single-session intervention
• the list of attendees — one visit, one attendance list
• cancelling the visit

What stays separate, per chart

These are facts about a patient, so each chart keeps its own:

• session notes
• clinical records — symptoms, diagnoses, assessments, medications, safety, functioning
• files attached to the visit
• attendance status: one person can be marked as attended and the other as a no-show

This is the property that matters when you export. A record you release for one patient is built from that patient's chart alone, so it cannot carry the other person's clinical content — even though the two of them share the appointment it was written in.

Unlinking

Unlinking removes the link and nothing else. Each patient keeps their own row for the visit, with everything already written in it, and neither chart is edited. It is not a delete, and it does not merge one side into the other.

Session formats are per visit

The format is recorded for the session you are in, not stored on the patient. A couple you usually see together can have an individual session next week without anything being reclassified, and the two dimensions never constrain each other — any format can carry any purpose.
